moonbeams

she was lost in her thoughts again,
by the window,
staring at the clear night sky.

the moon was gibbous, and glowing, and divinely beautiful.
and she basked at the lucent moonbeams that seemed to be raining on her pale and gentle face.

she closed her eyes and let the warmth of the moonlight bathe and soothe her.

she felt as if the moon knew all the troubles of her heart–
— the dull and muted pains that she carried with her,
the awful sadness she was fighting with,
the permanent lump on her throat, the chaos in her head,
the constant heaviness in her chest,
and all those now scraggly dreams that she struggled to still make true.

she was lost in her thoughts still,
by the window, staring at the clear, now deep night sky.

the moon was gibbous and warm as it continued to glow.
and she basked at the lucent moonbeams that had now touched her pale and gentle face.

she felt as if the moon knew all the troubles of her heart,
more than how she could ever try to understand them all, and–

–I know, it said,
in a rather lonesome voice.

I know.
